Just the fact that it is in the news, just the fact that legislators hear about and have to discuss this, just the fact that WT has to 'deal' with this is good.
The culture of this world must change, it cannot keep 'overlooking' the damage that child abuse does to people and society.
when i was a jw it was always emphasized that we should trust in jehovah completely.
jah will protect his people do not trust in man, throw your burdens upon jehovah etc.ok now if that's true wouldn't it mean that if jehovah was going to protect anywhere it should be his world head quarters right?.
we were told to not trust in ourselves (such as guns,walls for defense and protection) but to leave it in jehovah's hands and he would provide a means for escape etc.so as i'm watching some pro-wt vid's about the facilities in warwick i noticed something they didn't show on them or focus on and only reason i know about it was because of the w5 newscast as well as the vids the protesters shared.they conveniently leave out the parts of them putting walls/fences and gates as well as a "guard shack" at entrance instead of relying on jehovah to protect them.the guard house even has a "no trespassing" sign in the window.
I agree with ToesUp... Watchtower DOES say two things at once....on purpose! To confuse you and to also show it's power! (If you disagree, if you question us, it is off with your head! So believe both things! and get it right!)
What is strange is, when we left (at the end of 2011) they were building a 2nd hall on the property, and they built a 10 (?) foot adobe/brick wall all around the 2 acre compound!

We went to a wedding this last weekend for a friend who has only her younger brother to attend the wedding. She was so grateful we came... Family.... I definitely think that JW teachings can cause mental stress. Forgive & forget, do not bring "reproach" on J's name , do what you are told even if it does not make sense from a human standpoint, if you do not have two Witnesses, forget about it. Shun your family when they do not believe the same as you do, don't take an organ transplant it's cannibalism... Oops no it's not cannibalism anymore sorry your family member died. No blood fractions okay blood fractions are okay. And on and on and on
i read and replied to a post today about weather there were any benefits in been a jw.
as much as i now dislike the religion, i had to agree that there was an up side, due to their strong stance on alcohol, gambling, smoking, and sexual practice.
we would all agree that these can be terrible vices that can get out of control.. i was at one point a true believer, who believed in these rules, and to a point have benefited from abstaining from these practices.
I have spoken to people of all ages, and like to ask, "what made you leave?"
Even if it was simply for noting hypocrisy of treatment (elders letting one person's sin slide, vs another's) IF they keep doing research, to see this organization is built on bull****, THEN they are able to really escape, and stay out.
It does not matter the age, it matters the research and education!

the recent threads on blood fractions got me to thinking about ways to expose the absurdity of the watchtower's position on blood.
so i thought of the titular question.
would a hebrew have understood the prohibition on pork as meaning he had to avoid "major" pig fractions (ham, bacon, ribs) but "minor" pig fractions like pickled feet and fried pork rinds were ok?
That really makes it simple, JeffT, especially when JWs always want to use the old testament to 'prove' their 'logical' reasoning.
(They just don't like it when you do it back, haha!)
